Two outings in a week!
Thankfully my husband was well enough to go to the one on Friday, a performance of Tchaikovsky's 'The Nutcracker' by the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre company.
Our 'Hall for Cornwall' in Truro has a wide and varied number of productions, and this was sensational. We are so fortunate in that a whole row on the flat is kept for disabled and wheelchair bound people, so we always get very good seats.
What a performance it was, with exquisite costumes, a wonderful orchestra, and dancing that swept us away in wonder.
And the second outing?
Well, perhaps a little less exciting but very worthwhile.
Every year our Doctors Surgery holds a Charity coffee morning and asks for unwanted Christmas presents to be donated. It was nice to catch up with some old friends and see the Nurses and receptionists out of 'uniform' as they busily sold Raffle tickets.
I bought several, though we rarely win anything. And also , a Cauliflower and half a dozen eggs. The unwanted presents took up most of a room, rather sad really, but people were buying them.
So now the programme is for a restful weekend after all that excitement!

Elizabeth, it's grand that such fine performances are available to yyou all in Truro. Somehow, even though Lincoln Center is only a ten minute walk away, I have yet to see the NY City Ballet company's production of The Nutcracker. 2016 was going to be The Year, but the time got away from me. So now the plan is for December 2017!

The idea of selling off the unwanted gifts is great - we always seem to get several things which really aren't necessary and just add to the clutter we are trying to get rid of at this point in time! Good to think someone else can use them. Our best gift this past Christmas was a gift cert. to a favorite Italian restaurant in town - we used it the other evening after visiting a friend in hospital.

So pleased you and hubby have been able to spend some quality time together outside of your home. Did you manage to visit Trerice Manor before Christmas?? Hopefully our mild Cornish weather will continue, my garden is showing it's best this January. We are so lucky living in this beautiful County. Take care both of you, have a chill out weekend.
What a thrill to see "The Nutcracker"! I'm so glad that your husband was able to go with you. I've never seen a professional ballet. Would love to some day. I hope you are having a great weekend.

I have only been to one ballet (swan lake age 12) but love the music from the Nutcracker and imagine it would have been spectacular - glad you are getting out and having some fun and that hubby is feeling better. Betty
The ballet - how wonderful! When I lived in a large city I had season tickets. Sadly, have not been in many years. I'm happy that you and your husband were able to enjoy 2 outings in 1 week.

Unwanted gifts seems like such a sad thing, but I'm glad that money was raised for charity through their sales.

It is so exciting to hear about your getting out and enjoying things! The ballet looks exquisite, imagine being able to dance like that?
The charity function sounded fun. I always buy raffle tickets, but rarely win. My husband would rather I just not buy them! Isn't it amazing to think of all those presents that no one really wants? It's good to have an outlet to recycle them for a good cause.

I was looking at the list of Hall for Cornwall and they have some brilliant things on there.
Love the Nutcracker. Go every year now that I have a little granddaughter dancing in it. The music and the dancers bring joy, don't they. Looks like spring has hit your shores. We are waiting here. In March she will arrive.
What an amazing opportunity, I have never seen the ballet but have always been interested in it.
