Little of colour is left in the garden now. A few days of strong winds and torrential rain have wiped out the last Summer blooms.
Just a few heads of my Gertrude Jekyll rose. The scent is unbelievable.
A Clematis has surprised me with late flowers.
There's a Gladiolus in front about to flower.
One last Dahlia. Her name is Roxy and she has been in a large pot all Summer, flowering so well.
The Monarda, bee balm, has been covered with bees. Even though it is nearly over there are still furry bodies buzzing around it.
In the Greenhouse my Dianthus cuttings seem to be rooting. It was time to dig up the old plants as they had become very woody.
Last but not at all least, the tiny stems of Sweet peas still giving out a glorious perfume.
Soon it will be time for Autumn cutting back and maybe a bit of Bulb planting. Summer is over.

sweet peas! no chance of that here, we have Autumn full on although my nasturtiums are hanging on to bushes where they climbed as though in some escape attempt - my neighbours side is getting their full glory as they escape over the fence(seen when cat sitting!)
Hello Elizabeth, I still have sweet peas, and several dahlias, everything is slowy fading and there are lots of bear patches, must think about the bulbs soon I guess x
There is still a few lovely blooms in your garden, so I guess the bees are trying for what they can get! Your roses are lovely, and those sweet peas too. Each season has its own beauty. I love the later autumn when the garden is all cut back and its at rest, as much as I love the spring and summer growing seasons.

Glad to hear you are feeling better and have some energy returning. Sweet peas really have a great name. My sister and I picked some wild ones on a walk we took when she visited in July. Hope you have a lovely rest of the week and weekend.

Yes , Summer is over, but with your bulb planting ,you already have something to give you joy when comes the Spring ! :)
Your flowers are still pretty! I should go out to the Peter Rabbit garden and snip the last of the sweet peas. They DO smell SO GOOD!
