Without giving away the whole story.......the main character is Ellie, who has a powerful case of agoraphobia. Her life is built around her garden and her Social media posts describing that same garden. It isnt just agoraphobia from which she suffers, but frightening panic attacks also, some triggered by remembered incidents in her childhood.
Her mother, Harriet, is very much part of the story, and her years as a War correspondant are described so well. She visits the orphanages and her life is changed forever.
It sounds harrowing, but it is a fascinating look at the effects of Ellie's childhood, and the huge amount of loving support given by her parents. She struggles with so many relationships , makes mistakes, but the way she manages to overcome things is beautifully described.
The author writes that she was very influenced by a wonderful charity called Hope and Homes for Children. I was fortunate to meet the founder and his wife at our church, many years ago. The work they have done is amazing.

What promise and hope that vase of daffodils can give. They certainly lift the spirits and give one faith that all will indeed be well one day.
That books sounds great! I will have to check it out. Love the daffodils. I planted some bulbs last fall and am looking forward to seeing them bloom.

The daffodils are so pretty, something nice to enjoy. The book sounds interesting, I'm adding it to my reading list.
I am wondering if I can find this book in the States? Perhaps on line. This one sounds fascinating. I'll check. I'm reading Jefferson's Daughters about Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers. He loses one child early then his wife, and a another daughter. He has 3 remaining daughters, two by his wife and one by his slave. I'm half way through the book. His oldest daughter is schooled in a Paris convent school while he was the French ambassador and the second who only spends 2 years in Paris. I am anxious to see how his slave children survive. The daughter of his slave who managed his house escorts his youngest daughter to Paris. She is only 14 and leaves Paris two years later pregnant with Jefferson's Child. She can stay in Paris and be free, but she chooses to return home with Jefferson with a bargain that her children will be free. She eventually has 3 children by him. Fascinating. It's a long, difficult read because it is quite detailed filled with history and very small print. Daffodils are certainly the harbinger of spring. They've not appeared in the supermarkets here yet, but when they do, I'll buy a few.
We have friends who adopted two Romanian children from the orphanages. The children had such difficulties and strange behaviours. They are now in their late 30s and still struggle in many ways. I so admire our friends who took them in, never imagining what would transpire. This would be a fascinating book to read.

Your daffodils are beautiful! Feelings of Springtime pop up, but we will have to wait here. They precict very low temperatures and quite an amount of snow for the weekend and the coming week. Brrrr! I prefer Spring ;)
