Taken out for lunch today, to Malpas, a beautiful little hamlet about 2 miles from Truro. It lies on the water and is a very popular place for visitors. There's a very nice inn and also a Marina. Malpas lies at the head of the Fal Creek.
Needless to sayI forgot to take my camera, but the rain came down, so photos wouldn't have been much good. I have taken these photos from an article written by Alan Murton, who describes the place so well.

There used to be a little ferry boat, oar propelled, acoss the water to St Michael Penkivell where you can see a small white cottage
.
Now you call a motorised ferry, by ringing the Bell.
The road to Malpas gets narrower and narrower, till it stops at the yacht club. If you can't find a parking space you have to go a long way back and walk.
We were fortunate that there was a space to squeeze into, and enjoyed a very pleasant lunch overlooking the water...despite the heavy rain. It was so good to go out and do something a bit different.

That is a very pretty area. Unfortunately when you went it wasn't the best weather but it sounds like you enjoyed the outing in spite of it.
