So many people are showing their lovely Christmas decorations. I have done one or two things, but to be honest, I'm finding it hard without my lovely husband's input.
However, brought up not to sit around feeling sorry for myself, I went foraging (in my garden) to find greenery. A friend and I spent a morning making wreaths together, with much muttering, ripping out, starting again etc. When you finally hang it you realise how many gaps there are!
Mine has tiny twinkle lights that come on at night and look quite jolly.
Then I did one or two things in the sitting room.
A Scandi type throw over a chair. I found the throw at The Range, not somewhere that I often go.
The candle ring was bought about 40 years ago when we were in London for a few days, and went shopping in Liberty. Bits have fallen off over the years, but it still lovely.
I think that is all I shall do this year. I enjoyed making the house a little Christmassy.

That is all so lovely - and just enough. Stylish, seasonal but not over-the-top.
This is the time of the year when we are so often reminded of those we have loved, and lost. But good memories are precious.
I have a very similar throw, and really enjoy snuggling up underneath it. It also washes very well [useful with messy toddlers around, or when I spill my tea!]
Some years a little is just right. I love your wreath! Sounds like a good time creating it. I have not started going through all the bins yet to see what is going up this year. Praying our great comforter surrounds you with His comfort as you go through Christmas without your dear husband.

I lost my Mum this year and although she had advanced dementia and it was in many ways a blessing, I have been surprised by how big a hole her absence has left as we contemplate Christmas. It will seem strange without her
Making your pretty wreath alongside your friend makes creating more fun. The result is lovely. I enlarged the pictures so I could get a better look. The small wreath with 4 red candles is also very lovely and festive. Blessings, GM

It really does not take much to make your home a little "Christmasy" especially when we have our favorites that bring about such sweet memories.
Your wreath is very nice. As my children can’t come this year I was not going to buy a tree or decorate, but I have decorated and send the pictures to them and now I am in the Xmas spirit!

Your pared down decorations are just right, Barbara; enough to show that it is Christmas time but not overwhelming. One year, with no visitors and a determination to spend my Christmas at home on my own, I didn't bother with any decorations. Hmmm . . . not nice. I felt that I had completely missed out. So on Boxing Day I went and found some battery operated fairy lights and brought some seasonal cheer into my home. Much better! This year, I have a small tree, lit & trimmed, plus fairy lights between the cards and along the mantelpiece. :)

A few Christmas decorations are all that's needed. I made a wreath from foraged greenery this year, and like you, muttered as I made it. It's more difficult than it looks!

Hello Barbara, I think your hand made Christmas is just lovely and peaceful, it's very appealing to me right now in the preparations to move and Christmas too! My husband passed away right after Christmas last year, and I find this year to be difficult to get into the spirit of decorating. It's all very beautiful!!! I love your side chair. I just bought a Victorian style set of marble top living room tables (two sides and a coffee table) in solid walnut or mahogany (not sure), and an accent chair that closely resembles the same wood/style. Second hand all of them! I'm in heaven on earth :-)
