I've just been reading a lovely post by 'Podso' about the value of a handwritten letter. It's a very touching story.
A couple of years ago I organised a letter swap and I believe that some of the bloggers from all over the world who joined in are still in touch with their penfriend.
Much as I would love to start this up again, I can't commit myself to organising anything except my husband right now. He remains in Hospital and a good part of my day is spent with him.
Is there someone who would be interested in setting a swap up?
I would be happy to join in, but not to organise at the moment.

This is a lovely idea, I have already joined one for this year, but if someone is willing to organise I would probably join in, I have to much going on at the moment to organise it.
Thoughts and prayers with you both. Only just caught up with your blog. Hoping he is fully recovered and home again soon. The letter swap is a good idea, hope someone will be able to take it on.

I always love the idea of pen friend, though I have never any. When I was a 7th grader, I got a address from a Japanese boy/girl (I forget), who wanted a pen friend. I wrote a letter to that boy/girl with lots of enthusiasm, but I never got back reply. I felt very sad for. :)...

I am so so sorry that your Husband is still ill in hospital. I am going to light a prayer candle *right now* before I even post this comment.... ok, candle lit, that's better... it's a beeswax candle from a men's monastery that has bees here in the States and it is burning by an icon of our Lord'a Nativity (I still have Christmas here at home). Anyway, Lord have mercy, prayers for him and you! This would be so tiring and difficult for you... I can't organize penfriend swap but am interested. God bless.

I'm so sorry, I can hardly write a card myself due to the carpal tunnel operation (typing is good for me now). When tho organization means collecting the addresses etc and swapping them and mailing that, I could do it ... so let me know if that's something.

I am not in the UK, so I don't believe that I am the right person to lead a letter swap. I'm sorry.

This isn't good news to hear and hope he'll soon be feeling well enough to go home. I still write letters...using fountain pens, good paper and seal with a signet B dipped in wax. Yep, I'm old school and don't mind saying! grin

I'll have to pop over to Podso and read her story that inspired your post. I had penpals all over the world growing up, Japan, Philippines, and Thailand. I since have lost touch with those friends, which is sad! I would be interested in participating in a penpal swap should one take place, do let me know. I have never organized anything like that.

Yes, Mary and I have swapped letters, emails, cards, and even spoken on the phone. She is an amazing lady and I enjoy the friendship.
