A foretaste of Spring.

 Spring flowers.

Gradually the mists of December are fading. The newness of flowering bulbs brings light and cheer into the rooms. The hyacinths lift my heart with their lovely scent.

Some little twigs of Witch hazel, which have sat glumly doing nothing for weeks, have suddenly produced their tiny scented flowers.

And there are the first Primroses in the garden.

There will be Spring.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning...I know that you will feel the pain for a long long time - but so glad you are finding pocketfuls of hope . Much love xx

No Primroses in the garden yet but our days are getting longer ( we gain an hour this month alone). I love the scent of hyacinths. Take care, Granny Marigold

Seeing this post makes me hopeful that you are recovering from your illness, and feeling brighter about the days ahead. Flowers, and the coming spring lighten hearts. It's very dull and grey here today, but there has been a great party of birds of all feathers in the garden.

Hello Barbara,

I am glad you are enjoying Spring already. Here the bulbs are coming up quickly in the garden. Plus yellow tulips and a yellow primrose in the living room, to enjoy the new season to come as well. Have a good week!

how lovely, no sign of spring here, I think you are more sheltered. I planted loads of daffodil and narcissus and so far just a few heads have pushed through the soil. Nice to see you are enjoying your garden :)

I thought I'd answer your question about the Pfeffernuesse cookies here. You wondered if they were gingery. Well, the recipe includes cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, even a dash of black pepper but no ginger. They are however spicy.

Glad to see you and hope you feel better.
We don’t have much signs of Spring here for the moment. This week we are going back to frost.

Do you make anything out of the Witch Hazel?

Little patches of colour

Despite the drought and the effect it has had on gardens, there is still some colour around. I have a dry brownish lawn but in the flower ...
