It's becoming 'Ark building' weather here. The rain has never stopped and this morning was so heavy that cars pulled in along the road to wait till it had calmed down a little. I would not normally have driven on a day like this, but had an appointment that I didn't want to cancel.
I'm looking forward to opening the Edwardian calendar in December, the room looks cosy and warm and I would rather like to be there now!
It's a bit too early to think about Christmas trees and decorations, but I have got most of the little family gifts bought.
I have been making an 'Operation Christmas Child Shoebox' for the Samaritans purse collection arranged by our Church. Apparently there have been 209 million boxes packed in the last twenty years. So far it contains little gifts which I hope will bring joy to a child who might otherwise have nothing.....a furry toy, a notebook and pen, a box of felt pens, some stickers, socks and so on.
I always enjoy hunting out things to put in the box.
Now, time for a cup of tea. It's 4pm and so dark you would think it was night!

Take care, especially in the bad weather. I have found "Nativity themed" Advent calendars for my grandchildren. They may object to the lack of chocolate in them though!
Very wet weather for you and also for us. Wind, too, is forecast for the weekend.
That is the prettiest Advent calendar! We used to reuse ours every year but now that no one is particularly interested...

The Edwardian Calendar looks beautiful! It evokes a sense of warmth and joy. The Shoe box program is wonderful. It brings a blessing to many.

There have been times that pulling over was the only wise thing to do when caught in a downpour! Glad you made it to your appointment safely. We packed shoe boxes yesterday at our church with the donations the Awana kids brought in. I was able to pack my own, too, which was fun to choose the items for. Have a wonderful day!
It's a bit drizzly here this morning and I am hoping it clears up before I go to the grocery store!
This afternoon, it started raining here in the Netherlands, and it just didn't stop. Not ideal weather for tulip bulb farmers—they can't go out to plant the tulip bulbs in the fields. It's too wet, and the flower bulbs might end up rotting. It felt a bit disheartening, to be honest. So, I turned on the string lights and lit three candles. The weather is expected to improve a bit here tomorrow and the day after. I hope it does for you too. Let's hang in there and seek the light amidst the gloom.
The Edwardian Advent calendar looks so pretty. I have yet to order mine, and I always get them for the grandchildren (on their parents' computers). They are so very well done. Today I went to a craft fair and purchased a few little things for Christmas gifts. Too early to decorate yet, but I may begin baking and putting things into the freezer. A drizzly day here with more to come.
I'm looking forward to the Jacquie Lawson advent calendar. That room looks so cozy and inviting. It's early afternoon here but it already looks darkish out there - the sun got up this morning and went back to bed for the weekend, it appears. Now it's gloomy and grey.
I hope the rain stops in your neighbourhood soon. Maybe you could blow some our way. Here in Alberta, it's dry.

Love the cover of that calendar. It looks warm and cozy! Christmas is everywhere in the stores here, but I really wish they would allow Thanksgiving to take place before the push for Christmas starts.
I had a look if we had this kind of Xmas shoebox gift here, but can’t find it Edwardian calendar must be very nice for Christmas..
Our church is collecting and sending small gifts for children to Birmingham City Mission Toy link this year. We have in previous years also done the Samaritan shoeboxes.
A small gift of love goes along way and is sorely needed in our world today.
