In a week of News programmes featuring politics, murders, shootings, Post office scandals, rising cost of living, abandoned babies and worse, it has been sweet to see this.
Prince Edward, now Duke of Edinburgh, has been spending a few days on the island of St Helena, and was introduced to Jonathon, at 191years old, the oldest Tortoise in the world.
I found that refreshing.

This is so lovely. We recently read about Jonathon and it sounds like he still may have many more years to look forward to!
Edward and Jonathon certainly appear to get along well, it's a great photo.

Much nicer news, how old is Jonathan.
I wonder what Prince Edward said to Jonathon? Perhaps "You need to have a hard shell in my family to cope with the criticism" or "You've been around even longer than my Mum" or "Do you think that taking things slowly is a recipe for a good long life?"
Angela's comment made me smile. I didn't realize that tortoises got that old.
It looks as if they are having quite the conversation. Such a sweet photo.
God bless.
Edward is the Duke of Edinburgh.
A quite unassuming man unlike the previous title holder. Phillip probably would have cracked a turtle soup joke.
Such a lovely moment to capture on film. I quite admire the current Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The news is not so great on this side of the pond either. But that is a sweet momnet

What a great picture, they look like they're having quite the conversation.
Wow what a photo, I think Edward and Sophie are a lovely couple.. read back and your blue hyacinths are gorgeous.
Now that is newsworthy in my opinion! We in the USA are in for a horrible cycle of news with backbiting and lies galore since it is an election year. I'll keep going back to the Good News and all we have in Jesus for the encouragement we all need.
It is amazing to know that Jonathan is 191 years old. Just think of all the history that has happened during his lifetime. WoW
fabulous, what a beautiful creature.
The same horrible news all the time here.
Nice to see Nature ´d beauty!
I had to double-check that, Barbara . . . Edward is the Duke of Edinburgh and William is the Duke of Cornwall.
It isn't easy to distinguish those two men from each other since they both have a shortage of hair on top!
A lovely picture of Edward and Jonathon. Maybe Jonathon is passing on some words of wisdom from his very long life :-)
Sometimes it's good to slow down the pace of life like the tortoise.
